The responsible organisation is ISLANDER EDINBURGH LTD, trading as Islander UK, company number SC731424. Our registered office is 11a Bankhead Crossway North, Edinburgh, Scotland, EH11 4DT, United Kingdom. Contact service@islanderuk.com about privacy or storage choices.

1. What these technologies do

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We also use local storage, session storage, pixels and tags. These support shopping and booking, remember choices, load features and external content, measure website use and support advertising.

Session cookies and session storage generally last for a browsing session. Persistent cookies have an expiry and can be renewed by activity. Local storage can remain between sessions without a cookie-style expiry until the service removes it or you clear it. Browser restrictions, privacy settings and private-browsing sessions can shorten storage lifetimes.

First-party cookies use our website domain. Third-party services can also store or access information or receive information through technical requests. A first-party cookie is not automatically essential, and information collected without cookies is not automatically anonymous.

2. Purposes

Shopping and operation: cart, checkout, authentication, localisation, security, load handling and remembering privacy choices.

Additional features: announcements, product reviews, chat, forms, maps and social or media content.

Analytics: pages, searches, clicks, scrolling, form activity, active engagement, shopping and booking outcomes.

Advertising: campaign measurement, conversion reporting, permitted audience matching and personalised advertising.

Workshop page testing: keeping the assigned design consistent and, with analytics permission, comparing interactions and attributable outcomes.

The cookie banner provides choices for the available optional categories. Workshop assignment storage has a separate control and currently operates independently of the analytics choice, as explained below.

3. Workshop assignment and measurement

The islander_workshop_assignment cookie stores a random identifier and the page version assigned to your browser. It does not itself contain your name or email address. It lasts for 30 days and is renewed on eligible visits to the main workshop page, helping keep the same version on return visits.

In the current setup this cookie can be set before you choose analytics preferences and can remain if you decline analytics. The setting applies across countries. Declining analytics is therefore different from turning off workshop assignment storage.

To turn off assignment storage, use Page test preferences on the workshop page. This removes the assignment cookie and stores your choice in islander_workshop_optout for one year. You can still use the page and book a workshop. This control does not grant or withdraw analytics or advertising permission.

With analytics permission, interaction and outcome events can include valid experiment and page-version details and relevant browser, session or transaction identifiers. Google Analytics, Google Cloud BigQuery and GrowthBook support the analysis. FareHarbor booking links can carry a page-version reference; permitted analytics identifiers support booking attribution. These records are not necessarily anonymous.

4. Main cookies and browser storage

The table covers the main storage used by the current website components. Lifetimes are approximate, based on the deployed code, observed browser expiry or the provider’s published settings. They can renew and vary with browser limits, settings, the feature used and third-party booking or account pages.

Cookies and storage on embedded FareHarbor pages, external account pages and selected payment services can differ from the main website. Their own notices describe those services. A cookie expiry is not a promise that all information held on a provider’s servers is deleted at that time.

5. Providers and requests without optional cookies

Google Analytics and Google advertising services support measurement and permitted advertising features, including Signals and customer matching where enabled and permitted. TikTok supports advertising measurement. Microsoft Clarity supports heatmaps and session playback and can send limited cookieless information when analytics storage is denied.

Other website components include OpenCX chat, Microsoft Brand Agents technology, Judge.me reviews, Shopify Forms, hCaptcha, OpenStreetMap, Instafeed or NFCube and external libraries or media services such as Uploadcare. Loading these components can disclose connection information, including IP address, browser information and request context.

In the current implementation, Shopify Forms session and visit state, and some provider requests, can occur before a cookie choice or after optional categories are declined. Declining optional cookies therefore does not mean that no data or technical requests leave your browser. The workshop assignment setting also remains separate, as described in section 3.

6. Managing your choices

When the cookie banner is displayed, you can accept, decline or choose the available categories. Use Page test preferences on the workshop page to change the separate assignment-storage setting. Contact service@islanderuk.com if you need help changing a choice or exercising your rights.

Your browser lets you remove cookies and local storage, block future storage or limit third-party access. You may need to clear both cookies and website storage. Storage left by features used on earlier visits can remain until it expires or is removed, even if that feature is no longer on the website. Blocking storage needed for shopping, authentication or booking may affect those functions. Clearing choices can cause the banner to appear again or a new workshop assignment to be made when assignment storage is enabled.

Google advertising preferences can also be managed through My Ad Center. Other providers offer controls in their services. These choices are separate from newsletter unsubscribes and may be specific to a browser, device or account.

Changing or withdrawing a choice affects future processing. It does not automatically delete information already collected and does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn. Our Privacy Policy explains your rights and how to contact us.

7. Updates

We update this policy when technologies, providers or practices change. The date above identifies this version. Where required, we provide additional notice or seek permission for new optional processing.
