Something exciting has just landed at Islander. For the first time ever, we’ve taken our favourite Lochcarron tartans and turned them into a brand new collection of bold satchels, bringing together iconic Scottish textiles with one of our most-loved bag designs.

We’ve been working with Lochcarron tartan for some time, but this collection marks a first for Islander. Until now, our satchels have been best known for their interchangeable Harris Tweed® lids. Now, we’re bringing the same much loved satchel design to life in bold Lochcarron tartans.

For over 75 years, Lochcarron has specialised in the art of tartan weaving, creating authentic Scottish textiles from its mill in the Scottish Borders. With hundreds of tartans in its collection, the brand is renowned for bringing together traditional craftsmanship, rich colour and contemporary design.

Designed to be worn your way

We chose bolder colour combinations that feel fresh, confident and made to stand out, while still keeping the character of the tartan at the heart of each design. From striking contrasts to rich, unexpected colour pairings, each satchel has its own personality

Traditional in origin

For the collection, we wanted to choose tartans that weren’t just beautiful to look at, but had a story behind them. That’s why we selected a mix of recognisable clan tartans, each with its own history, colours and identity.

Clan tartans have long been a way of representing family heritage and connection, making them particularly special to wear. By bringing these traditional patterns into our satchel collection, we wanted to give them a fresh, contemporary feel while celebrating the stories woven into every design.

Traditional in origin, bold in colour and made for today, these tartans bring a little bit of history into an everyday piece.
